Week 9!

Good Morning All! Welcome to the half way point of the season! And we have some great summer veggies happening! I am hustling today so this week’s post will be short and sweet! It was so nice talking to some of you yesterday snd I hope you have a great week!!

This week:

  • a couple tomatoes

  • a bag of kale mix for raw or cooked eating!

  • a couple head lettuce that cut into baby leaf salad - add the kale mix for a big salad!

  • a head of cabbage. The spring cabbages were a bumper crop of big heads. They will be back in the fall! Try Sauerkraut or coleslaw!

  • a pint of green beans - I wish I could control how things grow but this heat is making things go crazy! So the beans are a little bigger and a little less tender than last week. I still eat them raw but you could cook them too! Boil and butter and salt. Or sauté them too!

  • Rainbow carrots! - I don’t grow as many of these but I am pleased with this week! Raw or cooked, the purple will most likely lose its color of cooked. Try shredding them onto a salad for a nice color!

  • a bunch of celery - you can eat raw, add to a cool summer salad or dish. Like this. Or this.

  • a couple banana peppers. A little spice, a little sweet. We chopped them into salsa or a little tomato sauce. If you are really opposed to heat you can remove the seeds and cook them. Its just a taste of peppers because there are more of you than banana peppers right now!!

The Big Share got extra tomatoes, extra kale mix, and extra head lettuce this week! Here are a couple photos from the week:
